A Bit of Background
The Strain: Kush Mintz aka Kush Mints
Genetics: This is a strain with a clear origin story. First created by Seed Junky Genetics in Southern California, Kush Mintz is a hybrid made from crossing Bubba Kush and Animal Mints.
Grower Nugs: This was a grower favorite on our farms last harvest. Although many argue that Kush Mintz is best grown indoors, our cultivators were happy to prove that wrong. “I did really like growing this strain, it had relatively low issues compared to its output. It was not too difficult to grow. Main thing to watch out for is mold as you get into the later part of the season if you’re growing it outdoors. It had dense, nicely packed flowers with a healthy forest green color and as the weather got colder it developed a deep purple that was darker than almost every other strain we had which looked great with the dripping trichomes. It was so sticky that when my sister dropped a nug of it, it stuck to the wall.” – Bradley
THC and Beyond: THC is the name of the game with this strain and it packs a mighty punch at 22.69%
Terpene Profile: The top terps in our Kush Mintz are caryophyllene and limonene, followed by hints of myrcene and linalool.
Taste and Toke
The Nose: While you might be disappointed to find this strain doesn’t smell minty fresh, your spirits will once again rise as you get whiffs of pine, delicate earth and undertones of old school bubble gum. Think childhood hikes with Double Bubble wrappers spilling out of your pockets.
The Palate: Alright, here is where the mint really comes to play. Mint and coffee and hints of cookies…all the best after dinner snacks wrapped in one great smoke.
The Feels: This hits you with a cerebral, euphoric head high before a cascading rush of tingles will leave your body feeling free and light. It’s not total couchlocked calm, but it is definitely heavier on the relaxation, despite an initial inclination toward creativity.
Puff and Pair
Grab & Go Munchie: For a grab-and-go snack, thin mints are a great pairing for Kush Mints. It’s a little basic, but let’s be honest–sometimes basic is best.
Gourmet Munché: If you want to really elevate your munchies experience, truly go gourmet with some coffee-crusted lamb with fresh mint sauce. It hits all the notes. Plus, this strain can hit you hard with hunger, so having a full meal is a great idea.
In the Glass: Australian Cabernet Sauvignon – Aussie Cab often has overtones of menthol and eucalyptus that will pair perfectly with the minty, earthy notes of the strain. Plus, there’s something inherently relaxing about slowly sipping a big, bold red on a night in. (And it will go great with your lamb pairing!) But, if you’re looking for something on the lighter side, try an Anderson Valley Pinot Noir or a French Sauvignon Blanc (Sancerre).
On the Stereo: Dream Pop. Pitchfork explains that dream pop is about “atmosphere, intimacy, a light coating of psychedelia, and, yes, dreaminess.” Yes, please.
Hightivity: Netflix and Chill. Put on an arthouse film and do all the things the phrase implies. Drift off to a relaxing sleep and know the world is better with Kush Mintz.
